History

A brief look into the past

The Delta Zeta Sorority was founded on October 24th, 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The six founders of Delta Zeta were: Julia Laurence Bishop Coleman, Anne Luise Keen Davis, Maybelle May Minton Hageman, Anne Dial Simmons Friedline, Mary Jane Collins Galbraith, and Alfa Lloyd Hayes.

They had come together to “build up the chapter and cultivate the truest and deepest friendship among its members,“ and to ”stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge and the attainment of a high standard of morality.“

Grateful to God for beautiful gifts, rich blessings and tender mercies- to hereby associate ourselves together, under the laws of Ohio- for the incorporation of secret societies.”

The Xi Lamdba chapter was founded on April 23, 1983 at the University of San Francisco.
